February Athlete of the Month: Clara Nagy!!

By Chris Monroe | February 7, 2018

Our February “Athlete of the Month” is impressive on so many levels. Regardless of her crazy work schedule (you should ask about her travel), and planning a wedding in Mexico in a few short weeks, Clara Nagy is a constant at our 6AM and 8AM advanced classes. She is a perfect example of putting your head down and doing the work…and she is does it well! Clara continuously tops the leaderboard on our strength, and metcon WOD’s alike and is meticulous with her barbell form and is constantly working to do better. Clara is also the first to give you that extra push you need to finish your WOD and is always the first with a high five after a grueling WOD! I can’t wait to see what she will accomplish in the CrossFit Open, and I know she will look smoking in that wedding dress in a few weeks! Congratulations, Clara, no one deserves it more!

Tell us a little bit about the difference CrossFit has made in your fitness since you joined CrossFit Sausalito. What are your most satisfying accomplishments in the gym so far?

I joined Crossfit Sausalito 5 and a half years ago, which seems like forever ago! When I started, I was intrigued, but honestly intimidated by the amount of weights that were involved. I’m so glad I stuck with it. Overall, in combination with a good diet, I have seen an increase in lean body mass (i.e. muscle), and decrease in body fat, not to mention my cardio health and even blood work has drastically improved. Yes, I am definitely a Crossfit kool-aid drinker! The most satisfying accomplishments in Crossfit is finishing a WOD that you didn’t think you could do one more rep, one more round, or lift that additional weight. Because C/S is such a positive place, you don’t ever feel like you’re failing – whatever you want to do that you may not be able to do today is just a PR for tomorrow.

What’s your favorite part about coming to CrossFit class?

The people!! There’s nothing like the camaraderie and friendships formed while suffering through a grueling WOD together. I also would have to be kidding myself if I thought I would push myself through some of these WODs on my own – yeah, right!

What’s your best piece of advice for a brand new CrossFitter?

Listen to your body and be honest with yourself. There are days when you just need a good sweat, and there are days to push your limits. After so many years of doing Crossfit, I can say that without a doubt, no matter how you feel going into a C/S class, you’ll feel better coming out!
