Lost 30lbs!

Prior to CrossFit Sausalito, I thought for awhile that I could maintain a level of fitness by hiking regularly and mountain biking but I realized after a few months that I was not losing weight and my fitness was not increasing so I joined CrossFit Sausalito in February of 2012. I was looking into gyms in the Sausalito area and CrossFit was one of them. A coworker of mine had been doing CrossFit and told me that it was a lot of hard work, but the results were second to none. Joining CrossFit Sausalito provided a regular schedule, guidance and encouragement from coaches and fellow athletes, and the increase in activity that my body needed to drop weight and feel my best.

For the first three months of Crossfit, I saw a modest drop in weight loss and large increase in energy and overall happiness. My nutrition for the first few months was not strict or regulated but once Crossfit Sausalito introduced the Paleo Diet Challenge, everything changed.

Beginning June 1st, 2012, my diet was strict and well planned out. I could count the drinks I had for the month on two hands. Sugar was minimized, processed foods were cut out as often as possible.  The weight that I was struggling to lose started to fly off and my workouts felt better and better. No more did I feel like there was no possibility of coming in to workout back to back days, the paleo diet allowed my muscles to recover and be ready for consecutive days of crossfit. All told, at the end of the month, I had lost 19 lbs!   IN ONE MONTH!!  Regardless of how the Paleo Challenge shook out, I knew that I had accomplished something that I had never done before. The challenge and guidance from the coaches at CrossFit Sausalito were the springboard to a better diet and to better workouts.

Results have been fantastic. It’s hard to recognize change when you look at yourself in the mirror every day. It is not hard to recognize change when people you see on a regular basis, or even on a non regular basis, mention how good you are looking. During the first 5 months at crossfit I have lost close to 4 inches on my waistline, my stomach has flattened out quite a bit, and I’ve lost a grand total of 30 lbs so far. Clothes that I have not worn in close to decades now fit again and look great. My girlfriend likes the new and improved Pete! The combination of CrossFit & The Paleo Diet has improved my overall energy tremendously.

What I look forward to most about going to CrossFit Sausalito is the camaraderie and the understanding that each workout will be different and challenging. In addition, the community that the gym builds is amazing. It is unlike any other gym I have been to. People are there to have a great time and get the best workout they can, period!
